Soon after the demonetization in India, the government has thought of many ways to promote Digital India. In order to push the Indians towards a ‘less-cash’ economy, apps like BHIM and Bharat QR code has been launched. Fortunately, these efforts of the government were not wasted. Indians have accepted the new method of payment, the digital payment where less cash is used. And today PM Modi has launched a new platform for the BHIM app, the BHIM Aadhar.
As we all know, PM Modi has launched the BHIM app in December 2016. Since then, it has helped a lot to promote digital economy in India. While today the PM has launched the new BHIM Aadhar interface for the app. The new platform was launched in Nagpur as a tribute to Bhim Rao Ambedkar during his 126th Birth Anniversary celebration.
Details about the BHIM Aadhar interface:
The BHIM Aadhar interface will enable digital payments without cell phones, internet connection, and credit or debit card. Any citizen without access to smartphones or the internet will be able to transact digitally through the BHIM-Aadhaar platform. Earlier, users have to install the app on the smartphones to make a successful transaction and have to give their personal account details on the app. But from today, you can simply use your biometric data like thumb imprint on a merchants’ biometric-enabled device which could be smartphone having a biometric reader.
Two different schemes of the BHIM Aadhar app:
The government has announced two different schemes of the app. Let’s have a look-
1) ‘Refer and earn’ scheme:
PM Modi along with the Aadhar platform for the BHIM app announces a ‘refer and earn’ scheme of the app. For every successful referral, you will earn Rs 10 after they make three transactions. You can earn up to Rs 200 per day by referring it to 20 people each day. Therefore, you can not only make digital payment but also earn money from the app.
- The person you refer has to make three successful transactions through the app, then only Rs 10 will be credited to your account.
- The refer and earn scheme is valid for six months until 14 October 2017.
- This scheme is for all individual users of the app.
2) Cashback scheme of the BHIM Aadhar app:
This scheme is only for the Merchant. This scheme is basically to encourage the Merchants to accept digital transactions using BHIM Aadhar app. Under this scheme, every Merchant will get a cash back of up to Rs 300 per month.
Additional information of the BHIM app:
According to reports, already 27 major banks with 3 lakh merchants started accepting payments using BHIM Aadhaar app. The app has already created a new world record by registering 1.9 crore downloads in just four months since its launch in December 2016. PM Modi also said that about 75 townships going “less-cash” where the deployment of payment acceptance infrastructure is complete and all the families are covered under training programs. The townships included in the list has done 80% of the total transactions through the digital mode of payment during the review period.
Lucky draw scheme for customers using digital payment apps:
PM Modi, in December 2016, had announced lucky draw schemes for people who use digital payment methods including e-banking, mobile banking, and e-wallets. He had announced that apart from regular prizes, one big bumper draw would be held on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti in which the winning price would be 1 crore.
